How to endorse bonus awards to family members Bonus awards can be endorsed to the eligible family members : grandparents, parents, spouse, parents-in-law, brothers/sisters, children, son/daughter-in-law and grandchildren. To register family members, please complete the SKYPASS Family Registration Form and submit it along with a copy of a government issued family register as a supporting document.
10% mileage discount for multi award tickets 10% mileage discount is only applicable when redeeming mileage from a single SKYPASS account. Discount is not applicable when redeeming through family plan mileage. When claiming two or more round trip bonus award tickets with the same region/seat type/season, only 90% of the standard award redemption mileage is required. One-way and infant award tickets, as well as upgrade awards, are not eligible for the 10% discount. For changes in class, region, and seasonality, or in case of a partial refund on unused coupons, the 10% discount previously applied will be revoked. This service is provided temporarily.
Award Ticket / Upgrade Award Validity Bonus tickets are valid for 6 months from the issued date. Upgrades are valid as long as the ticket is valid. Bonus tickets can be extended for 3 months for extra 5,000 miles. A maximum of two extensions allowed.
Redeeming Miles during peak season During peak season, more miles will be redeemed for bonus ticket and upgrade awards. The dates of peak season vary yearly. Award Travel Guide Awards can only be used on Korean Air flights (Award may not be used on code-share flights with other airlines). Only one stopover is allowed in one direction for Korean Air travel awards, with a maximum of two stopovers round-trip (excluding final destination). An itinerary change within the same region, season and class is permitted. After receiving the 10% discount on multiple award tickets, if changes in class, region, and seasonality occur, the 10% discount previously applied will be revoked and extra miles may be required to change itineraries. Ticket Award and Upgrade Award are not applicable to the segment between Americas and Guam via Korea.
Unused Award Ticket Refund If a part or a whole of a bonus ticket is not used, miles for the unused portion can be reinstated after miles for the used portion are deducted. Depending on when refund of miles is requested, a bonus ticket will be refunded with 5,000 miles deducted after 6 months from a bonus award date; 10,000 miles will be deducted after 1 year. In case of upgrade awards, if a ticket is not valid any more, miles will be reinstated with 5,000 miles deducted after 6 months from a bonus award date; 10,000 miles will be deducted after 1 year. Note that deducted miles for the extension of validity are not reinstated. If a bonus ticket is lost, it is checked whether the lost ticket is used after 2 months from a reported date of bonus ticket loss. If the lost ticket is not used, miles will be reinstated for the unused portion. If a reported date of bonus ticket loss is 6 months after a bonus award date, miles will be reinstated with 5,000 miles deducted; 10,000 miles will be deducted after 1 year.
How Bonus Awards are Issued Bonus awards can be issued at Korean Air’s website, Service Center or local offices. A member him/herself must apply for a bonus award, and submit a bonus award redemption form along with his/her SKYPASS membership card and a picture ID. Any person or third party acting on behalf of a member for application must submit a letter of proxy from the member, the SKYPASS membership card and picture ID of the member, along with his/her own picture ID. Members can also redeem a bonus award online at Korean Air’s website. Please register for Internet ID for online bonus redemption.
Award Ticket Taxes / Fees Award tickets are subject to, and the passenger is responsible for, applicable fuel surcharges, taxes and fees. Fuel surcharge can vary depending on the local area or city of departure. Fuel surcharge and taxes / fees will be automatically calculated into your award ticket at the time of purchase.
