NOTES
Other animals such as rabbits, hamsters and snakes are not allowed to board the aircraft. Please enquire at an animal transportation agency.
Aggressive dogs (such as american Pit Bull Terriers, Rottweilers and Dobermanns) or birds are not allowed.
Only one animal per a passenger is allowed in the aircraft.
Things to do before you travel
Check pet's health status
Pets must be healthy and at least 8 weeks old.
Avoid any type of sedatives as it can affect the body temperature and blood pressure of the pet.
Korean Air will refuse to carry any animals that are under medication, violent, ill smelling, sick or pregnant
Pet carriage to destinations
Please check in advance if your destination allows pets.
Currently the UK and Australia apply very strict plant and animal regulations, prohibiting passenger planes to carry them. To check the custom regulations for each country, click ‘Custom regulations for each country’ or contact the organization concerned.
Rabies vaccination prior to departure
Most countries ask for a rabies vaccination certificate from pets, such as dogs and cats if they depart from Korea.
Pets should be vaccinated 30 days before the departure date. Please make sure that the vaccine will be effective for your entire trip (Vaccine is usually good for 1 year.)
How to apply and pay for pet travel
How to apply
After having documentation required for the quarantine inspection at destination ready, contact the reservation center and make the booking for pet travel. For regulations and requirements in Korea, contact Incheon Animal Quarantine Office(+82-32-740-2660~1).

The total weight of pet including a kennel : 5kg or less(Pets of 3kg or less when using the kennel provided by Korean Air’s domestic flight)
The total dimension(length+width+height) of the kennel should not exceed 115cm to fit under the seat.
There should be enough space for the pet to move around.
Soft-sided animal carriers made of fabric or leather with a sturdy structure are permitted.
A kennel must be leak-proof and have a ventilating opening and a hinged or sliding door with a padlock.
A kennel must be padlocked but for emergencies staff should be able to open the kennel.
Cargo Compartment
The total weight of pet including a kennel : 32kg or less
The total dimension(length+width+height) of the kennel should net exceed 246cm. (84cm or 33inch high on some aircrafts)
There should be enough space for the pet to move around.
A kennel must be made of strong materials, such as metal, wood or plastic.
A kennel must be leak-proof and have a ventilating opening and a hinged or sliding door with a padlock.
A kennel must be padlocked but for emergencies staff should be able to open the kennel.
Things to check when you bring kennels
Food and water should be offered to your pet no more than 2 hours prior to departure and absorbent bedding such as paper, towel or blanket is required inside the kennel.
In case of emergencies, your name and telephone number should be written in English on the outside of the kennel.
NOTES
Only one pet is allowed per passenger whether it travels in the passenger cabin or in the cargo compartment.
2 puppies of 6 months old or younger, 2 kittens or a pair of birds may travel in one cage.
Procedure at the airport
Customs documentation will be provided by the animal quarantine office at the departure city once you present a rabies vaccination certificate or a health certificate.
Bring the customs documentation (2 copies) to the check-in counter and fill in a declaration form.
Pets traveling in the passenger cabin must be kept inside the kennel and under the seat. Taking the pet out of the kennel and kept with the passenger is allowed under no circumstances.
Upon arrival the quarantine officers at the customs will check the pet. The documentation (a rabies vaccination certificate, a health certificate and customs documentation issued at the departing city) should be presented to customs.
