Economic Outcome
15.9% growth in sales compared to last year, 5 consecutive years as number one in international cargo transport
Regardless of fuel costs surging by 61% compared to 2007 and soaring exchange rates, by development of new demand through launching new routes to Munich, Tel Aviv and Milan and global network and operation of effective flight schedules, Korean Air has transported 21.8 million passengers yearly and 2.16 million tons of cargo and was able to achieve sales up to 10.2 trillion won, which is an increase of 15.9% compared to last year.
Korean Air has made an astonishing achievement by being ranked first for five consecutive years in statistics of global cargo transport announced by IATA (International Air Transport Association), beating international leading airline companies such as Cathay Pacific and Lufthansa. This achievement was possible through a network expansion by launching cargo services in Uzbekistan and Navoi and ensuring a bridgehead of market development in Latin America, service improvement by maintenance of state-of-the-art cargo fleet, investment in cargo terminals and IT, and above all, through swift and safe quality control.
Ensuring Dynamics for Future Growth
Regardless of the economic recession, Korean Air is making aggressive investments to ensure the dynamic for future growth.
