Q1: What is the baggage allowance for check-in? The free baggage allowance is the maximum number, size, and weight of bags that each customer is allowed with no additional charge. Baggage allowance vary depending on your destinations. Class of service From/to the USA, Canada and transpacific routes* From/to all other routes** First Class Two pieces of baggage provided that the dimensions (the sum of the length, height, and width) of each bag do not exceed 158 cm (62 ins) and that the weight of each bag does not exceed 32 kg (70 lbs). 40 kg (88 lbs) *The maximum weight per piece is up to 32 kg. Prestige Class Same as First Class 30 kg (66 lbs) Economy Class Two pieces of baggage provided that the dimensions (the sum of the length, height, and width) of each bag do not exceed 158 cm (62 ins), the weight of each bag does not exceed 23 kg (50 lbs), and further, that the sum of the dimensions of the two bags does not exceed 273 cm (107 ins). ※ Exception: For travel from/to Philippines, economy class passengers are allowed two pieces of baggage provided that the dimensions (the sum of the length, height, and width) of each bag do not exceed 158 cm (62 ins), the weight of each bag does not exceed 32 kg (70 lbs), and further, that the sum of the dimensions of the two bags does not exceed 273 cm (107 ins).   20 kg (44 lbs) Children paying 50% or more of the applicable adult fare: Same baggage allowance as that of an adult passenger traveling in the same class of service. Infants paying 10% of the applicable adult fare: One piece of checked baggage provided that the dimensions do not exceed 115 cm. (45 ins) and 10 kg (22lbs), plus one fully collapsible stroller/pushchair or infant carry basket or infant car seat may be carried into the passenger cabin subject to space availability.   ※ Effective from October 10, 2007 (based on the ticketing date), regular checked baggage allowance (two pieces of baggage up to 23kg(50lbs) per piece) will apply for journeys between Canada/USA/US territories and Japan/Hong Kong. *Transpacific : The United States, Canada, US Territories, Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America ** All other routes: Korea, Japan, Asia, Europe and other regions Q2: What is the size and weight for carry-on baggage? The size, weight and number of carry-on bags are limited to ensure passengers a safe and comfortable flight. However, an extra seat must be purchased for larger instruments (such as cellos, double bases and Korean lutes) that have a total dimension of 115cm(45ins) or more. Due to the strict security regulations, 1 carry-on baggage and 1 extra carry-on item is allowed for flights bound for US or US connecting flights. Q3: What is the charge for excess baggage? Any baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance will be subject to excess baggage charge. Routes Charge Korea domestic routes 3% of adult one-way normal fare per 1kg(2lbs) Americas Routes * First/Prestige class: Each baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance under 32kg(70lbs) will be charged an applicable excess baggage fee. * Economy class: 1) Overweight baggage within the 2 piece free baggage allowance weighing between 23kg ~ 32kg(70lbs) will be charged at the rate of: - KRW 30,000 if departing from Korea - $25 USD if departing from the U.S. - $35 CAD if departing from Canada Effective August 1, 2008 - KRW 50,000 if departing from Korea - USD 50 if departing from the U.S. - CAD 60 if departing from Canada Overweight baggage fee may vary depending on departing countries. 2) Each extra piece of baggage in excess of the 2 piece free baggage allowance up to 32kg(70lbs) will be charged an applicable excess baggage fee. * Exception: For travel from/to Philippines and travel from/to Brazil (for tickets purchased in Brazil only) , economy class passengers are allowed two pieces of baggage provided that the dimensions (the sum of the length, height, and width) of each bag do not exceed 158 cm (62 ins), the weight of each bag does not exceed 32 kg (70 lbs), and further, that the sum of the dimensions of the two bags does not exceed 273 cm (107 ins). Outside Americas 1.5% of adult one-way normal fare per 1kg Americas Routes: For travels to/from Canada, United States, US Territories, Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America Outside Americas: For travels to/from to Asia, Oceania and Europe Q4: Will my bags be automatically transferred to the connecting flight if I have a connecting domestic flight after I land in Incheon? According to custom regulation, all bags entering Korea must go through customs as soon as the flight lands. Therefore, baggage will not be transferred. You are required to claim your bags then check-in for the domestic flight. Q5: I lost my baggage, what do I do?   Following arrival, if baggage has sustained damage or has not arrived, - Note1.   If damage to baggage is discovered after completing a number of flights, passengers should notify the airline of the last flight taken.     - Note 2.   Passengers should notify the airline of lost baggage or lost items from baggage within 21 days of the corresponding flight. Damage to items should be notified within 7 days of the corresponding flight.
