Tips for Partner Award Travel
  1. Reservation : Booking your award travel must be made at Korean Air Service center.
  2. Ticketing
  - Award can be issued only at Korean Air ticketing office and not available at the airport.
  - Ticketing is permitted when all segments hold confirmed seats.
  3. Application
  - Airline Partners awards are valid only for round-trip.
  - The nations of departure and arrival cities must be identical.
  - The higher class redemption should be applied on the mixed award class itinerary.
  - Coupons must be used in sequence of proper order.
  4. Change
  - Before starting to use tickets, it is allowed to make a whole itinerary change.
  - After starting to use tickets, only a carrier/flight number/date change is permitted with a re-issuance of the ticket.
  5. Validity
  - One year from the date of issuance.
  - The extension of validity is not permitted.
  6. Blackout dates : Awards are not permitted on embargo periods of each partner's airlines.
  7. Mileage refund
  - Partially used tickets are not refundable.
  - Completely unused award tickets can be fully returned for mileage refund into the member's account within one year of ticket issuance.
  - 10,000 miles deduction applies after one year from issuance.
(Exception) In case of Vietnam airline award, if refund request is made after 6 months of issuance, 5,000 miles will be deducted. 10,000 miles deduction applies after 12 months from issuance.
  8.  Airline Partners awards are subject to the change of schedule and miles required for flights according to their regulations. Please contact Korean Air service center for the detailed information.
  9. Others
  - Upgrade award on revenue ticket is not allowed.
  - Partner airline award travel using Family Plan (supplementing miles from immediate family members) is not allowed. However, members may endorse a partner airline award travel to a registered family member using his/her own miles.
  - No infant and child mileage discounts are applicable : The same miles with adults will be redeemed in case of seat occupation.
  - Other rules are in accordance with partner airlines' regulations.

Tips for SkyTeam Upgrades
  1. When flying with Air Europa, China Eastern Airlines, Kenya Airways, Tarom and Vietnam Airlines of SkyTeam partners, Alaska Airlines, Emirates, Garuda Indonesia and Hawaiian Airlines for non-SkyTeam partners which do not participate in the SkyTeam upgrade program, the SkyTeam upgrade service is not available.
2. SkyTeam upgrade is available only when you purchase an e-Ticket issued by a SkyTeam airline partner and fly on regular flights. No seat upgrade is provided for code share flights.
3. You may not reserve a upgrade seat according to each airlines’ seat status.
4. You are only allowed to upgrade from economy class to business class for non-discounted normal fare tickets.
5. The same miles are deducted for an infant (if occupying a seat) and a child as an adult and seat upgrade is not available for an infant who does not occupy a seat.
6. SkyTeam upgrade awards using Family Plan (supplementing miles from immediate family members) is not allowed. However, members may endorse an upgrade to a registered family member using his/her own miles.
7. The validity of SkyTeam upgrade bonus is the same as that of your ticket.
(When extending the validity of a ticket, seat upgrade bonus is available for a maximum of 1 year.)
8. The mileage used for seat upgrade is refundable only when the entire tickets have not been used. It is not refundable if any part of them has been used. If you request a refund 1 year after the date of issue, it is refunded after deducting 10,000 miles.
9. Any change in seat upgrade bonus mileage can be applied prior to use.
