Transporting Musical Instruments as Carry-on Baggage
If you intend to transport a large musical instrument such as a cello on board, you are advised to follow the instructions below.
You should contact Korean Air Service Center (☎1588-2001) to reserve a seat to transport your instrument as carry-on baggage.
As a large instrument will occupy an extra seat when carried into the cabin, the passenger must purchase an extra standard one-way, adult-fare flight ticket in lieu of excess baggage charges.

Transporting Musical Instruments as Checked Baggage
To transport large musical instruments, such as cellos, as check-in baggage, passengers can complete standard baggage check-in procedures at the check-in counter.
A musical instrument can be checked-in free of charge as long as the total baggage weight, the pieces, and the size of each baggage, including the musical instrument, are within the free baggage allowance.
NOTES
Due to possible damage occurring during transport, passengers should pack instruments with care in hard cases and with ample shock absorbing material/padding.
Passengers are required to complete an agreement authorizing the airline to transport their instruments.
