Q1: When do I have to check-in to board an international flight? It is recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure and complete check-in (seat assignment and baggage check) at least 40 minutes prior to take-off. Check-in and boarding procedures for flights departing to US may require more than 2 hours due to security check. (For flights departing from the US and Europe, passengers must complete their check-in at least 1 hour prior to departure.) Q2: Is advance seat assignment available? Korean Air operates an ‘Advanced Seat Selection’ system for customers that have purchased either domestic or international flight tickets. For international flights, First and Prestige Class passengers can request their seat selection 24 hours before scheduled departure time; 48 hours prior to departure time for Economy Class passengers. Please note that Korean Air cannot guarantee your seat at all times as you may be assigned another seat if: First and Prestige Class passengers fail to check-in by one hour before scheduled departure time. Economy Class passengers fail to check-in ninety minutes prior to scheduled departure time. There is a change in aircraft. We apologize that the seats near the emergency exit are unavailable for pre-assignment,due to security and safety reasons. Q3: Can I assign the seat next to the emergency exit? Since passenger sitting next to the emergency exit must aid the passengers in a case of emergency, the seat cannot be pre assigned. Only the following passengers may occupy the seat next to the emergency exit. 1. Able to understand the orders given by the flight attendants in a case of emergency. 2. Healthy passengers who are able to aid other passengers. 3. Passengers who will cooperate with the flight attendants. Q4: If I'm traveling with a party do we have to reserve the seats together? Even if you don't make the reservations together, you can sit together with your party as long as you check-in together. Seats may not be assigned in the same area if the flight is full. It's always recommended that you arrive early on the date of the departure. Q5: Can I view the seat map of the flight? You can view the seat map on our homepage.
