Pack as light as possibe to promote safe travel.
Make sure that baggage does not exceed the size and weight limits stipulated by the airline. Pack items properly to avoid possible damage.
Attach a clearly written (in English) name tag with the passenger’s name, address, and travel destination on both inside and outside of each baggage.
Multi-purpose (Swiss Army) knives, fruit knives, scissors, nail clippers, golf clubs, etc. are restricted carry-on items and cannot be brought into the cabin. Make sure to keep such items in checked baggage prior to boarding.

Flammable and/or combustible items including lighter fluid, paint, butane gas, burners, etc. are not accepted in carry-on or checked baggage.
*In case of carry on, one lighter is allowed.
*As of Apr. 8, 2008, the carriage of lighters and/or matches is prohibited in all China international and domestic airports and is subject to inspection at security check stations. Please plan accordingly prior to travel.

Fragile items such as pottery, electronic products, glassware, frames, etc; perishable items such as food; and liquids(including gels) food, perishables and other items with foul odor are not allowed in checked baggage.
Please notify the airline in advance if you have special items like sports equipment (bikes, surfboards, etc.) and pets for smooth handling on the day of travel.
Keep high-value items such as laptop computers, camcorders, cameras, jewelry, antiques, precious metals, etc. in your carry-on baggage at all times. Airlines assume no liability for loss or damage of such items as well as other valuables such as cash, securities, contracts, dissertations, medical supplies, etc.

Free baggage allowances regarding size, weight, and quantity of baggage vary with passenger itinerary, seating class, and membership grade. Please confirm the free baggage allowance that pertains to you prior to departure.

※ Effective from Nov. 1, 2008 (based on the ticketing date), regular checked baggage allowance (two pieces of baggage up to 23kg per piece for Economy class) will apply for travel between the USA/Canada/US territories and Philippines.

- Note 3. The maximum weight per piece of baggage is 32kg (70lbs) and the maximum size (sum of width, height, and depth) is 158cm(62ins).
  * Checked baggage is processed through the baggage handling facilities of the airport and transferred onto the aircraft by baggage handling personnel. For the safety of such personnel, the maximum weight for a single piece of baggage is 32kg (70lbs), regardless of seat class and/or extra baggage payment. Any item or piece of baggage that exceeds this weight limit and/or has a maximum size (sum of width, height, and depth) in excess of 158cm(62ins) is subject to rejection.
   
- Note 4. When flying with Korean Air, extra checked baggage may be allowed according to the passenger’s SKYPASS membership grade.
  (Note: Restrictions may apply if flying with a SkyTeam partner airline or codeshare partners.)

* Morning Calm Club:
   Additional 10kg (22lbs)
   Excludes travels from/to the Americas.
* Morning Calm Premium Club:
   Traveling from/to any region excluding the Americas - additional 20kg (44lbs),

- Note 5. Changes in US Carriers' Domestic Baggage Rule
 

Effective from May 5, 2008, some of the US carriers are implementing excess charges for checked luggages when traveling within the U.S. domestic routes. 

For international passengers connecting from/to U.S. domestic flight, different rules may apply depending on the carriers. Please contact each carrier for further information.

- Note 2. Carrying Musical Instruments
  Small musical instruments such as a violin may be carried on-board providing they meet carry-on size(less than 115cm(45ins) )However, to carry large instruments, such as a cello, double bass, geomungo (Korean lute), etc, a passenger must purchase an additional seat.
 
- Note 3. Flights Departing from the United States and/or Connecting to a U.S. Domestic Flight
  Due to heightened security measures, all passengers, regardless of seating class, are limited to one piece of carry-on baggage and one additional permitted item for flights departing from the United States and/or connecting to a U.S. domestic flight.

1) Extra Piece of Baggage
Each extra piece (maximum 32kg) in excess of the 2 piece free baggage allowance will be charged an applicable excess baggage fee.

2) Overweight Baggage
Economy class :
Overweight baggage within the 2 piece free baggage allowance weighing between 23kg(50lbs) ~ 32 kg(70 lbs) will be charged at the rate of:
- KRW 30,000 if departing from Korea
- USD 25 if departing from the U.S.
- CAD 35 if departing from Canada

Effective August 1, 2008 (based on the date of ticket issuance)
- KRW 50,000 if departing from Korea
- USD 50 if departing from the U.S.
- CAD 60 if departing from Canada

 * Outside Americas: For travels to/from to Asia, Oceania and Europe
Restricted Items
Prohibited Items
  For safety reasons, the following items must not be packed in checked or carry-on baggage or taken on board with you.

* Combustible/Flammable substances such as paint, lighter fluid, etc.
* Pressurized gas containers such as oxygen tanks, butane gas cans, etc.
* Weapons and/or explosive materials such as firearms, firecrackers, etc.
* Other items that may pose danger to passengers and/or the aircraft
 
Restricted Carry-On Items
  Any items that may be used to pose a threat to passengers in any way can not be carried on-board. Such items include, but are not limited to, all types of knives and cutting instruments, golf clubs, clubs/bats, scissors, nail clippers, batteries, etc. If a passenger possesses any such item at the time of boarding, it must be checked at the gate.

 
Restricted Items with Special Precautions
  The following items may be carried on board with special precautions 

* Small quantity of personal care products and/or cosmetics, 1 lighter or matchbox , airline-approved medical items, gas-powered hair curlers, medical equipment, batteries, etc.

* Note 1. Restriction of Carrying Lighters on Flights Departing from/Arriving in the United States and China.

Due to heightened security measures by the United States Transportation Security Administration, it is strictly prohibited to carry any form of lighters on all flights departing from/arriving in the United States (including Guam).
(However, a minor quantity of matches can be allowed.)

*The carriage of lighters and/or matches is prohibited in all China airports.

Unsuitable Items For Checked Baggage.
  The following items cannot be included in checked baggage.
These items should be carried with you.

Korean Air is not responsible for any damage, loss, or delay of any such items.

Items include, but are not limited to, laptop computers, camcorders, cameras, mobile phones, currency, jewelry, precious metals, securities, other valuables, samples, documents, easily damaged items, perishable items, etc.
