Korean Air offers a PTA (Prepaid Ticket Advice) service that allows you to pay the air fare in advance for a passenger who lives in a different area, so that he/she can receive the ticket without making payment. (PTA service may not be available in some areas.)

I would like to send a ticket to my friend in another country. What do I need to do?   Apply for PTA Apply for a PTA service through a Korean Air office or your local travel agency and pay for your friend’s ticket. Request to issue a ticket Korean Air staff then requests a Korean Air local office or the first traveling carrier in the passenger’s location to issue the ticket. Inform the passenger Korean Air local office will inform the passenger of the ticket processing and the details of itinerary. Receive the air ticket Passengers can present a valid form of identification at any Korean Air ticketing office to receive flight ticket issuance. (Issuance of e-Tickets can be done via e-mail or fax, and passengers can simply call a ticketing office for assistance.)

Is there a fee for PTA service? Yes, a service fee will be charged in addition to the air fare. Service fee may vary depending on the country where the PTA service is required. For example, service fees are KRW 30,000 for Korea, USD50 for USA, and JPY 4,500 for Japan.   When do I need to request PTA service by? You must apply for a PTA service at least 48 hours prior to departure of the passenger’s flight.

Can I get refund for the ticket sent/received through PTA service? PTA tickets can be refunded. However, the refund will be paid only to the payer of the PTA service, not to the passenger.   Can I make a change to the itinerary of the ticket sent/received through PTA service? Yes. Changes can be made. However, any changes to the original PTA ticket will require the payer’s consent prior to flight departure. Please allow us enough time for processing.
