Precautions

Sporting equipment, such as golf clubs, skis, snowboards, and bicycles, that is less than 32kg in weight and 277cm in length can be checked into aircraft baggage. However, due to the unconventional shape and/or size of some sporting equipment, they may become warped, bent, and/or damaged during transport. Please keep this in mind, and take care when packaging such sporting equipment for travel.

For the convenience of our passengers who travel with sporting equipment, Korean Air allows the checking of one set per person and offers handling fees that are cheaper than those for standard extra baggage. Weight and size terms and restrictions can vary depending on the type of sporting equipment, and thus confirming these conditions prior to flight departure is recommended for more convenient travel.

Golf Clubs
Golf clubs, whether carried as a set or individually, are restricted from carriage into the cabin according to safety and security regulations, and must be checked in.

Packaging:
When checking in golf clubs in a golf bag at the counter, the cap section (club heads) should be placed on the baggage conveyor belt facing opposite to the direction of the belt. This will help to reduce the risk of possible damage to the golf clubs. During handling, golf bags may become scratched. Thus, for high-priced, natural leather golf bags, it is recommended that they be placed within a cloth or hard case.

Fees:
For golf equipment, one set of golf clubs is permitted per passenger and is subject to a special fee that is lower than that for regular baggage. (For any golf equipment in excess of one set, excess baggage charges applicable to regular baggage are applied.)
