Air Travel during pregnancy
Whether a passenger can travel during pregnancy depends on the expected date of delivery and pregnancy type (single or multiple pregnancy - multiple pregnancy means that a woman has two or more babies in her uterus). For the safety of pregnant women and unborn babies, passengers with multiple pregnancy are subject to a different policy than those with single pregnancy according to IATA Medical Guidelines, 3rd Edition. However, a separate rule applies to pregnant women with complications (e.g., gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, obstetrical hemorrhage).

In-Flight Guidelines
The cabin pressure during flight is slightly lower than on the ground, but it is adjusted to a set pressure level so a generally healthy passenger is not too affected by the change. However, pregnant passengers are advised to avoid food that can cause gas (e.g., carbonated drinks) or heavy meals that can cause bloating.

Pregnant passengers must always wear a seat belt when sitting in their seats, and they must be extra cautious when moving around since a flight can experience turbulence anytime. For safety reasons, the seat belt should be fastened as tight as possible without causing any discomfort to the pelvis and the thighs.
