NOTES
Other animals such as rabbits, hamsters and snakes are not allowed to board the aircraft. Please enquire at an animal transportation agency.
Aggressive dogs (such as american Pit Bull Terriers, Rottweilers and Dobermanns) or birds are not allowed.
Each passenger is allowed to carry only one pet. However, pets under 6 months of age can be transported in a pair using a single cage (the pair must be of the same breed, i.e., 2 dogs, 2 cats, or 2 birds to a cage). Please contact Korean Air Service Center for more information.

Things to do before you travel
Check pet's health status
  Pets must be healthy and at least 8 weeks old.
  Avoid any type of sedatives as it can affect the body temperature and blood pressure of the pet.
  Korean Air will refuse to carry any animals that are under medication, violent, ill smelling, sick or pregnant
Pet carriage to destinations
  Please check in advance if your destination allows pets.
  Currently the UK and Australia apply very strict plant and animal regulations, prohibiting passenger planes to carry them. To check the custom regulations for each country, click  ‘Custom regulations for each country’ or contact the organization concerned.
   
Rabies vaccination prior to departure
  Most countries ask for a rabies vaccination certificate from pets, such as dogs and cats if they depart from Korea.
 
Pets should be vaccinated 30 days before the departure date. Please make sure that the vaccine will be effective for your entire trip (Vaccine is usually good for 1 year.)

How to apply and pay for pet travel
 
How to apply
  After having documentation required for the quarantine inspection at destination ready, contact the reservation center and make the booking for pet travel. For regulations and requirements in Korea, contact Incheon Animal Quarantine Office(+82-32-740-2660~1). Filling a form

  Rabies vaccination certificate (2 copies)
  Documentation provided by the animal quarantine office (2 copies)

Bring the above documentation to the check-in counter.
The required documentation varies according to departure city. Please confirm the documentation before your travel.
Charge for pet travel
  Regardless of your free baggage allowance, you will be charged extra for your pet according to the excess baggage charge in the following table.
  Payment will be made during check-in.

The number of pets allowed for each aircraft type is limited due to safety reasons.

  Pets are not allowed for international flights on Boeing 737. Please contact Korean Air Service Center at for more information

Things to check when you travel with pets
 
Available kennel for pets

Carry-on

The total weight of pet including a kennel : 5kg or less(Pets of 3kg or less when using the kennel provided by Korean Air’s domestic flight)

The total dimension(length+width+height) of the kennel should not exceed 115cm to fit under the seat.
There should be enough space for the pet to move around.

Soft-sided animal carriers made of fabric or leather with a sturdy structure are permitted.

A kennel must be leak-proof and have a ventilating opening and a hinged or sliding door with a padlock.
A kennel must be padlocked but for emergencies staff should be able to open the kennel.

Cargo Compartment

The total weight of pet including a kennel : 32kg or less
The total dimension(length+width+height) of the kennel should not exceed 246cm. (84cm or 33inch high on some aircrafts)
There should be enough space for the pet to move around.

A kennel must be made of strong materials, such as metal, wood or plastic.

A kennel must be leak-proof and have a ventilating opening and a hinged or sliding door with a padlock.
A kennel must be padlocked but for emergencies staff should be able to open the kennel.

Things to check when you bring kennels
  Food and water should be offered to your pet no more than 2 hours prior to departure and absorbent bedding such as paper, towel or blanket is required inside the kennel.
  In case of emergencies, your name and telephone number should be written in English on the outside of the kennel.
NOTES
For safety reasons, it is strictly prohibited to take your pet out of the cage.
Guidelines for Service Animal
  Handicapped passengers are allowed to be accompanied by their service animal which can sit in front of them. However, a service animal cannot occupy a seat.
  When accompanying a service animal, you are required to carry your quarantine certificate. The waiver for travelling with a pet is not needed. However, mentally handicapped persons who are accompanied by an emotional support animal must carry a valid medical statement issued within a year from the date of departure according to the US DOT.

Procedure at the airport
 
Customs documentation will be provided by the animal quarantine office at the departure city once you present a rabies vaccination certificate or a health certificate.
Bring the customs documentation (2 copies) to the check-in counter and fill in a declaration form.
When you arrive at your destination, submit the certificate of rabies vaccination, health certificate and quarantine certificate you prepared in advance during quarantine inspection.
