What you should know
- Tickets with combined fares that have different refund penalty amounts are subject to the penalty of the refund fee with more restrictive fare rules.
- Upon a refund, the itinerary and additional services for the purchased ticket will be canceled.
- If you request a refund calculation for a flight with an imminent departure, the booking will be canceled to prevent a no-show.
- Award tickets and group tickets are subject to separate rules.
- Airport service charges for unused Korea domestic segments of your itinerary can be refunded up to five years from the purchase date of the ticket.
- Tickets purchased with a credit or debit card cannot be refunded in cash. The refund request will be forwarded to the card company, and the refund will be processed according to the card company's policies. If you have closed the card used for payment or the account linked to it, please contact the Service Center for accurate refund information.
Refund policy and required documents
- Only the passenger can apply for a refund on their flight ticket.
- To request a refund, contact your ticketing agency within 30 days of the ticket expiration date.
- If you purchased your ticket from another airline or a travel agency (not Korean Air), please contact them for assistance.
- Additional documentation is required if a refund is requested through an agent.

Detailed proof of family relations - Korea region: Legal documents, such as copies of resident registration certificates or family relation certificates, issued within one year, indicating the dates of birth and family relationship of the applicant and the minor
- Regions outside of Korea: Legal documents, such as certificates of marriage, certificates of birth, census registration, or certificates of tax return, issued within one year, that indicate the dates of birth and family relationship of the applicant and the minor

How to get a refund
Refund process by payment method
- Cash: Deposited to the ticket holder's account
- Credit card: Refunded through the credit card company used for payment
- Digital wallet: Refunded through the account or credit card company linked to the digital wallet
Refund processing time
- Refund approvals are typically completed within 3 business days of the request.
- Mileage for award tickets and upgrade award tickets will be returned when the refund is complete.
- For tickets purchased with a credit card, the timing of your refund may vary depending on your billing date and the card issuer's processing cycle. Refunds are typically processed within 1 to 4 weeks after approval. If your refund is delayed, please contact your credit card company.
- For tickets purchased from another airline or a travel agency, please contact them for assistance.
Refund status
- You can check the refund status for tickets purchased from Korean Air by logging in and accessing [My Page > Purchase List]
- If you purchased under a guest account, you can view your purchase after signing up.
- If you cannot find it in the purchase list, you can search for it directly in [Search Other Purchases] by entering the ticket number, purchase date, and passenger name.
- We do not accept health insurance cards, wedding invitations, read-only copies of resident registration certificates, or any other documents that are legally void and/or do not clarify a family relationship.
- If any of the eligibility documents contain your resident registration number, please black out the latter part of the number.
Refund fee for flights departing from Korea
- Refund fee will vary depending on the time of cancellation.
- If refunding a fully unused, reissued ticket, the higher refund fee between the fee applied to the original ticket and the fee applied to the reissued ticket applies.
