Delay

  • Baggage delay may be caused by various reasons, such as baggage handling system issues, air traffic control delay, airport facilities, weather, and maintenance issues. Korean Air strives to track and deliver bags swiftly in case of delay.
  • Please notify Korean Air staff immediately of any baggage delay, and we will do our best to assist you with filing a Property Incident (Delay) report.
  • You can view the status of reported delayed baggage.

  • According to the requirement of U.S. DOT 14 CFR 260.5, if you pay excess baggage fee for your baggage on a flight to/from the U.S. and the baggage is significantly delayed by 15 hours (for scheduled flight time under 12 hours) or 30 hours (for scheduled flight time more than 12 hours), you can receive a refund for the paid excess baggage fee. 

What you should know before filing a report

  • Reporting to the airline of your last flight (the actual airline you flew with) ensures smooth and accurate baggage tracking and service.
  • You need to file a report within 21 days of baggage delay.
  • You need the bag tag when filing a report.
  • Approximately USD 50 will be paid to you one time for you to purchase any essential items unless the destination is your original place of residence.
