Stroller use guide

  • Strollers exceeding a total of 115 cm in combined dimensions may be used up to the boarding gate but must be checked at the gate.
  • To maintain a safe cabin environment and prevent injuries and obstructions, please ensure your stroller is folded when moving and storing it on board.
  • Your stroller will be returned to you at the arrival gate for international flights and at the baggage claim for domestic flights within Korea.
  • Depending on local airport conditions, stroller return at the gate may not be available. (Check the stroller location at your destination airport)
  • Please remove stroller accessories such as cupholders before checking in the stroller as baggage, as they may be damaged or lost.
  • Passengers who wish to check strollers at the boarding gate are encouraged to arrive early to check in their strollers and board the aircraft first.

What you should know

  • Infants must be at least 7 days old to travel and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years of age on the boarding date for each segment.
  • If boarding with an infant under 24 months old, the accompanying guardian must first fasten their own seat belt and then hold the infant on their lap, outside their seat belt.
  • If an infant occupies their own seat, they must be booked as a child.
  • Each adult may accompany only one infant on their lap.
  • When one adult is traveling with two infants, one of the infants must be issued a child fare ticket and occupy a separate seat.
  • Even if an infant does not have an assigned seat, they must be included in the booking with their guardian. Valid legal identification such as a passport is also required for the infant.
  • Installation of a baby bassinet may not be available in Prestige Class depending on the aircraft type or seat configuration.

What you should know

  • Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years of age (13 for domestic flights within Korea) on the boarding date for each segment.

Infant bassinets

Eligibility

  • Applicable routes: International flights (Economy Class and Prestige Class)

  • Eligibility and specifications: Infants under 75 cm (2.46 ft) tall and under 11 kg (24.25 lb)

How to request

  • To request a bassinet for your infant, you must complete advance seat selection and be assigned a bassinet seat in Economy no later than 48 hours before departure.

  • Prestige Class passengers may request bassinets at any time after booking confirmation, up to 24 hours before departure.

  • If a bassinet is needed, you can check whether a suitable seat is available after purchasing your ticket.

  • Installation of a baby bassinet may not be available in Prestige Class depending on the aircraft type or seat configuration.

Car seats and safety harnesses

Eligibility

  • Infants or children occupying their own seat (with a purchased ticket).

    • FAA-approved car seats labeled as suitable for aircraft use

    • Harnesses certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

Seats suitable for installation

  • Suitable: Middle seats in the center section or window seats

  • Not suitable: Aisle seats, exit row seats, and seats in front of or behind the wing exit row

How to use

  • Select a suitable seat in advance (a window seat or middle seat in the center row)

Note

  • Car seats without a certification mark must be stored in the overhead bin or under the seat during takeoff, landing, and taxiing. Car seats will be transported as checked baggage if they exceed carry-on baggage dimensions.
  • Car seats and safety harnesses must not obstruct access to emergency exits. Seat selection may be limited if such devices pose a safety concern.

  • Before traveling, please make sure that your car seat or safety harness is in good working condition and that your child’s height and weight do not exceed the product specifications.

At the airport

  • You may use dedicated counters at the airport and enjoy priority boarding.
  • If one adult is traveling with two or more infants/children under the age of 7, they are eligible to use the Family Service at applicable airports.
  • Customers departing from or arriving at Incheon International Airport may rent strollers at the airport Information Desk or request priority services for passengers with special needs.

During the flight

  • On international flights, children may receive a small gift, such as a coloring book, to enjoy on the plane.

  • Diaper changing table: Diaper changing tables are installed in all lavatories.
  • It’s helpful to have a bottle of milk or lollipops on hand for your child to prevent ear pain due to pressure changes during takeoff and landing.

  • Please dress your child in layers, and remove or add as necessary depending on the temperature in the cabin.

Child ticket fares apply to children ages 5 to 13 for domestic flights within Korea and to children ages 5 to 12 for international flights.

Seating of children under the age of 14 years on flights to and from Canada

  • When booking directly with Korean Air Reservations, Korean Air will assign seats in proximity to each other for you and your accompanying child under the age of 14, free of charge.
  • Booking Online : Please select 'Child' under 'Passenger Selection'.
  • Booking directly with Korean Air Service Center/Centre : Please be sure to tell the booking agent that you are accompanying a child under the age of 14.

 

Under the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR), you may request that children under the age of 14 be seated close to their accompanying adult at no extra charge when booking through travel agencies.

  • If seating the two passengers in close proximity requires a change of cabin class for one or both individuals, Korean Air may offer an upgrade or a downgrade. You may be required to pay the fare difference for an upgrade, and you will receive a refund of the fare difference for a downgrade.
