What you should know
- Mileage is accrued based on the actual flight boarded. Therefore, if you board a flight on another airline instead of Korean Air due to a schedule change, mileage can be earned only if the actual operating airline is a partner airline of Korean Air.
- If you wish to purchase or change a Korean Air Award ticket using partner airline mileage, please contact the airline that operates the mileage program you are enrolled in.

Applicable trips
- Award tickets are not applicable to codeshare flights.
- Flights in your itinerary must be with one partner airline.
- This is based on a round trip. Mileage for a round trip is deducted for a one-way trip as well.
- Award tickets can only be used on direct flights. Additional mileage is deducted when boarding a connecting flight (except Alaska Airlines, China Southern Airlines and GOL).
- Open jaw travel segment is allowed 1 time from the destination regardless of the region. However, the origin and destination must be in the same city.
- Open jaw travel: A segment where a passenger travels by a mode of transportation other than a plane
- E.g., the Los Angeles - Seattle segment in the Anchorage - Los Angeles (with Alaska Airlines) or Seattle - Anchorage (with Alaska Airlines) itinerary is an open jaw travel segment

The eligible routes for Alaska Airlines award tickets will be revised as of January 1, 2026, based on the ticketing date. Tickets issued on or before December 31, 2025 will remain valid for travel on the originally available routes until the ticket's expiration date (one year from the original date of issue).

It will be unavailable to use SKYPASS mileage for getting Award tickets for Hawaiian Airlines flights as of January 1, 2026, based on the ticketing date. Tickets issued on or before December 31, 2025 will remain valid for travel on Hawaiian Airlines flights until March 31, 2026. For Hawaiian Airlines routes within Hawaii and between Hawaii and the U.S. mainland, award redemption will be available on Alaska Airlines coded flights as of April 22, 2026, following the merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
Number of transfers and stopovers
- Alaska Airlines, GOL
- One stopover is allowed. Staying four hours or longer between domestic flights within North America (U.S./Canada) is considered a stopover.
- For inter-island itineraries within Hawaii operated by Alaska Airlines, stopovers and transfers are not allowed.
- Transfers are not allowed in the city of origin and destination.
- China Southern Airlines
- Up to two transfers per direction are allowed between origin and destination cities.
- One stopover is allowed during the entire journey in a city other than the destination, and it counts as a transfer.
- Emirates, Japan Airlines
- Stopovers and transfers are not allowed.
- Additional mileage is deducted for connecting flights.
Blackout dates
- Boarding may be prohibited during certain periods based on partner airline policies.
- You cannot fly with both Korean Air and a non-SkyTeam partner airline in the same itinerary.
How to book
Booking and ticketing
- Other partner airline award tickets can be issued on the Korean Air website or at the service center and branch offices.
- Award tickets must be used in the issued order and can only be issued when all bookings are confirmed.
Pooling mileage within the Family Plan
- Mileage endorsement and pooling in the family plan can be used to issue an other partner airline award ticket.
Infants and children
- The same amount of mileage is deducted as adult passengers for infants and children occupying a seat. Infants are not eligible for awards without occupying a seat.
Change and refund
Itinerary change
- Tickets must be reissued at the service center or a branch office.
- This is information on the reissue fee for changing Non-SkyTeam Award tickets. You can change the itinerary before or after the ticket is used, but a change fee of KRW 30,000 (CAD 30 for departures from Canada, IDR 350,000 for departures from Indonesia) will be charged, and additional mileage may be deducted depending on the itinerary.
Ticket refund
- Mileage can be refunded if a ticket is completely unused. Once the ticket is used, even partially, it is not eligible for refund.
- When mileage is refunded, it will retain the original validity period of the mileage used. Any mileage that has expired at the time of the refund will be forfeited and not refunded.
- Fees vary based on the time of refund request. This fee is paid using mileage.
- When requesting a refund for entirely unused award tickets within 24 hours of purchase, the refund fee is exempted.

Validity period
- Award tickets are valid for 1 year from the date of issue, which cannot be extended.
