About Zhangjiajie
Mongyudowondo unfolds before your eyes
This city, which was the filming location for the 2009 movie “Avatar,” was previously named Dayong. The name was changed to Zhangjiajie in 1994. With its magnificent natural landscape, Zhangjiajie was recognized as China’s first national forest park. In 1988, Wulingyuan was approved and listed as a key national scenic area. The area around Wulingyuan, which includes Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, and Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
